You won’t want to miss these Sunday set-ins at Ebbs Chapel Performing Arts Center! There are three shows in the 2019 Series:
Sunday, June 30 – Jeff Little Trio
With few exceptions, the piano does not play a prominent part in Appalachian or Americana music, and is rarely the lead instrument. But Jeff Little is an exception – and a remarkable one. His distinctive two-handed style, much influenced by the mountain flat-picked guitar tradition, is breathtaking in its speed, precision and clarity.
Sunday, July 28 – Michael Reno Harrell
Michael Reno Harrell is an award winning songwriter, as well as a veteran storyteller and entertainer, and he’s from the South… the Southern Appalachian Mountains to hone it a bit finer. One could compare Michael’s performances to his granddaddy’s pocket knife: well warn and familiar feeling, but razor sharp and with a point.
Sunday, August 25 – The Kruger Brothers
The Kruger Brothers — Jens Kruger, banjo and vocals; Uwe Kruger, guitar and lead vocals; and Joel Landsberg, bass and vocals –- personify the spirit of exploration and innovation that forms the core of the American musical tradition. Their original bluegrass music and folk classics are crafted around their discerning taste. The result is unpretentious, cultivated, and delightfully fresh.
All shows begin at 4pm at Ebbs Chapel Performing Arts Center, 271 Laurel Valley Road in Mars Hill. Tickets ($15 advance; $20 day of show) are available by calling (828) 649-1301, or visit madisoncountyarts.com.
