The mission of The Rotary Club of Madison County is to encourage and foster the ideal of service and to promote high ethical standards. We also strive to advance international understanding, goodwill and peace through our efforts with the Rotary Foundation. Membership provides fellowship through weekly meetings and the opportunity to volunteer time and talents to serve our community and the world.
The Club supports programs in the community through grants, scholarships, and awards. Among them are the Make-a-Difference Grant for youth-oriented services and college scholarships. Awards recognize school employee of the month and student of the month. Rotarians provide volunteer time at the schools in the form of distributing dictionaries to all 3rd grade students and teaching a Junior Achievement class to 4th, 5th, and 8th grade students.
The community as a whole benefits from Rotary through many different ways. Some of them are holiday dinners for the needy, fuel for families, Christmas presents for needy families. The world community is helped through Rotary’s efforts in polio eradication, water for Third World countries, and many other programs. Meets Thursdays at 7:30 a.m. (4th Thursday at 5:30 p.m.) at Pittman Dining Hall in Mars Hill.
