On Display at Mars Landing Arts Center from March 11 through April 26, 2026
Opening Reception with the artist takes place on Friday, March 13, from 6-8 p.m.
Christopher Peterson often embarks on photo reconnaissance in urban settings, looking for interesting lighting situations and opportunities to express perspective and invite the viewer into the scene. As an artist, he seeks “to reflect the world that we all live in and can relate to.”
Christopher Peterson comes to his current paintings first as an illustrator—he cites Norman Rockwell and James McMullan among his influences—but his colorfully painted urban landscapes are firmly planted in the oeuvre of American Realist painters such as Edward Hopper and Andrew Wyeth. Working with oil on canvas, Peterson says he “straddles the wobbly line between fine and applied art.”
