Stay Home, Stay Safe Phase I

North Carolina is taking a three-phased approach – based on data from testing, tracing, and trends, and in consultation with members of the business community – to lift restrictions in place to slow the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

At 5 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2020, North Carolina will move into Phase 1 of the plan. The Stay at Home Order remains in place with some modifications. Click the Phase One image for a larger view.

If you leave home, practice your W’s: Wear, Wait, Wash.

  • Wear a cloth face covering if you will be with other people
  • Wait 6 feet apart. Avoid close contact.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.

These actions can protect our families and neighbors as the state takes a cautious step forward to ease restrictions while the virus is still circulating. Stay strong and continue to flatten the curve and slow the spread of COVID-19.
